Crunching DATA

Posted in Uncategorized on October 14, 2010 by vfacare

With 360 surveys done, 85 interviews, and a total of 17 focus groups conducted, the Youth Action Team alongside the Advisory Committee had to synthesize and crunch this information into the priorities most mentioned and separate them into categories they fell under. With a lot of hard work, and dedication this task was accomplished.  The findings were very shocking, but what was most interesting to note were the similar opinions many people had.  A final polishing of how this data will be presented is currently being finalize and the results will be open to the public shortly to read.

Focus Groups: DONE!

Above: The EASE students at the Vietnamese Friendship Association is participating in a focus group led by three members of the Youth Action Team

In the beginning of the CARE (Community Action Research and Empowerment) Project, the Youth Action Team set out to conduct 10 focus groups with unique demographics.  This includes seniors, youths, different religious affiliations, professionals, and many others.  After gathering all the inputs of these various groups, the YAT team will now, “crunch the data” prioritizing what is needed the most, but also considering everything else!  Now all that awaits are results from interviews and surveys that will be collaborated with the focus group results to get the most accurate portrayal of the ideal Vietnamese Community 10 years from now.

Community Forum #2

Posted in Uncategorized on July 27, 2010 by vfacare

Members of the Vietnamese Community gathered on June 26th to share ideas of what they envision ten years from now, for our community.  The many people that showed up were able to draw as a group the future they had in mind, and together they shared ideas and drew it to images on paper, representing their ideal community.  Thank you to everyone that showed up and by the end of September your valuable inputs as well as many others from the interviews, focus groups, and surveys being conducted is greatly appreciated, and well be reflected in the 3-5 year plan that the YAT (Youth Action Team) will create.
