Crafting a Vietnamese Community Action Plan

Vivian Dao and Khoi Nguyen facilitates a discussion around safety in the Vietnamese Community. The discussion focuses on strategy and planning steps in order to meet the needs found in phase 1 of the CARE project.

On February 25, 2012, a total of 70 Vietnamese Community members contributed their ideas of how their visions regarding topics such as health care, education, and community safety can be implemented.

The next stage now is for the Youth Action Team to synthesize the data and craft a vision and strategy plan that highlights all the input we received from the interviews and focus group discussions.

Vietnamese Community Planning Meeting

Your ideas of how we can turn our surrounding needs on issues of jobs, housing, safety and many other topics into a community action plan will greatly help us create a community plan to present to the City of Seattle, City Council, and the Mayor’s Office.

Phase Two Kick-Off!

“On December 2, 2011, over 100 youth, community members and City of Seattle Officials gathered to discuss findings from the Community Action Research and Empowerment (CARE) Project—which explores issues, challenges, and opportunities within the Vietnamese community of Seattle.”

Next, the youth team will begin working with community members to draft a strategic action plan that can address issues identified from the research, and will be presented next Spring.
